Fasciated Tiger Heron

The Fasciated Tiger Heron (Tigrisoma fasciatum) 70cm. Is a species of heron in the Ardeidae family. It is native to Central and South America. Its natural habitat is rivers, marshes and lakes.

 

In 1988 the Fasciated Tiger Heron was categorized by the IUCN as Near Threatened but as of 2004 they have been recategorized as Least Concern. The population is estimated to number 1,000-10,000 individuals, roughly equating to 670-6,700 mature individuals.
